This is the medical term for inflammation of the “conjunctiva” of the eye – the conjunctiva being the mucous membrane that covers the white of the eyes and the inner side of the eyelids. It is can spread from one eye to the other or can occur in both eyes at once. Although uncomfortable, it is not serious and is, in fact, quite common.
Signs and symptoms of conjunctivitis include: Inflammation of the inner eyelids; Sticky discharge.

These include Good hygiene; Do not share towels etc. with infected person or from infected eye to non-infected eye; Wash infected eye with warm salt water and cotton wool, wiping the eye from the bridge of the nose to the outer corner of the eye.
