Reflexology is based on the principle that various zones on the feet affect and are affected by different parts of the body. Applying pressure over the surface of the foot has a beneficial affect on the corresponding organ.

What is Reflexology?

In the 1930's a massage therapist called Eunice Ingham developed 'reflexology'. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrored congestion or tension in a related part of the body. Therefore, treating the areas of the feet could have a relaxing and healing effect on different organs and tissues inside the body.

How does Reflexology work?

Firm but gentle pressure with a thumb or finger is applied systematically over the whole surface area of each foot. Where a problem or weakness exists in any organ or area of the body discomfort will be felt in the corresponding reflex zone when pressure is applied. Continuing to apply pressure until the initial discomfort has dispersed has a beneficial effect on the organ.
